***These bundles are ready to ship - if you order anything on dyed to order alongside this, the whole order will be shipped once that yarn is ready to go ❤️ ***
A neon rainbow embroidery yarn bundle! Yes 🙌 🥳 🌈 It's been a hot minute since I had anything like this available, I'm happy to be dyeing them again.
Shown in my own cross stitch design, alongside Neon Heart: Oil Slick embroidery yarn. They work up beautifully.
What do I get?
You'll get six skeins of yarn, a semi-solid in each of the following colours:
- Neon Pink
- Neon Orange
- Neon Yellow
- Neon Green
- Aqua Blue (non-UV reactive)
- Neon Purple
The purple dye 'splits' during the dyeing process, which is why it has dark and lighter patches. It's unpredictable and delightful because of this.
Please remember semi-solids are not a full solid colour (hence the 'semi'), and will likely contain variations of the colour within the skein of yarn.
Gimme the yarn deets!
These embroidery yarns are 2ply 100% BFL (Bluefaced Leicester), 3g in weight, 24m in length, and full of delicious creative possibility. They are Superwash which means they won't felt if you pop them in the washing machine or if you agitate them while hand-washing, but I would recommend treating them gently regardless if you are going to wash your finished pieces, with cool water, so they will look amazing for even longer 😘
I would not recommend splitting the ply due to the twist in the ply making this extremely difficult without tangles and knots. Please do not attempt this. As with all yarn, the ply makes the strands stronger together, and the single strands will be extremely fragile and will break, making them unusable.
I would say the yarn equals about three strands of stranded cotton. I have used the yarn alongside the 'traditional' two strands of cotton in the past and they look absolutely fine alongside each other, the comparison is given only so you can imagine the thickness.
I use a size 24 needle when stitching with this yarn.
What could I use them for?
Use them for cross stitch (my go-to stitching hobby, I will of course be designing some patterns to use these yarns with over time 🥳), modern crewel embroidery, punch needle embroidery, embellishing your clothes, Temari balls, micro crochet, surface stitching over your knits and crochets... I'm sure there are a thousand more uses that I haven't even begun to be aware of yet! 🌈
When stitching with it, I would recommend using 16-18 inches at a time to prevent wearing on the yarn as you pull it through your fabric. Always pull it through slowly to reduce wear, and watch the twist in the yarn as you work with it, as we all inadvertently twist the yarn as we stitch - if it's become too tight and twisty (it may be coiling a bit), let the yarn and needle dangle from your work to let it get back to its 'neutral' state. You may have had to do this with stranded cotton before when it gets a bit tight and twisted (I certainly have) 👌 If the twist is coming 'undone' and the ply looks weaker (you will see the strands aren't twisting around each other as much as they were, and you may feel like the yarn is looking like it wants to break apart, or it might start looking thinner in the stitches) just twist the yarn in the same direction as the ply to put some twist back in again ❤️
How far will 24m go?
A long way! In terms of cross stitch, which is the stitchy medium I know best, you can apparently make approximately 1,750 full cross stitches on 14 count aida with 24m of this yarn, technically... this is based on the figures I found for 24m of cotton thread (without carrying your yarn/thread across the back of the fabric from one part of the pattern to another), and assumes average stitching efficiency, which varies between stitchers, so it will of course vary from person to person, depending on what you're stitching. And actually, wool stretches where cotton doesn't, so I bet if we had a competition between 24m of this yarn versus 24m of stranded cotton, the yarn would win 🥳
Basically though, will 24m go a long way? Yes, yes it will.
Dyed with professional acid dyes and rinsed thoroughly. All neon dyes I use are UV reactive (will glow under a blacklight).
Shades between batches may vary. Please note that the photographs are representative of the yarns you will receive, and may not be the actual yarns. As standard, colours may vary between device screens.
Order processing/delivery info
Order processing times (delivery cost info below, scroll down)
Please note - I am not posting anything further between now and when I'm back from holiday on 4th December ❤️
I will be dyeing and packing as usual once I return!
More info on the strikes and my holidays etc below.
Current lead times
The current lead time for yarn which is dyed to order is 2-3ish weeks (unless a more specific preorder date was stated on the product listing).
Anything purchased in the ready to ship Shop Update doesn't mean immediate despatch, but it does mean I'll usually get them posted within 1-2 weeks for you depending on my order volumes ❤️
Please do allow me some 'wiggle room' with processing your order, for ADHD and chronic health issues (more info below).
If you purchase the pattern from me here on my website as opposed to Gumroad, which is an automatic download, you will receive the PDF via email manually from me. You must ensure the email address you are using is valid as I will be using it to send you the PDF. I will be emailing them at least once a day, except for when I'm on holiday.
Important additional info
Upcoming holidays which may impact orders - I am on holiday from 26th November - 5th December. Any open orders not processed prior to those dates will be picked up once I'm back, when I'll crack on as normal!
Royal Mail strikes
Firstly, I fully support the strikes.
There will be considerable disruption to various arms of Royal Mail between now and the end of December as several strikes days have been announced - your parcels will inevitably be impacted.
I send everything tracked anyway as standard now, so we can keep an eye on where they are even if they get delayed along the way.
I do expect some patience while your order is in transit as I am not in control of any delays your parcel is subject to, especially as post volumes will be increasing between now and Xmas, but if you're at all concerned about how long it's taking please do get in touch.
If your parcel does go missing (I've only lost two parcels in the five years I've been trading) then don't fret, we'll sort it out!
Xmas orders - I cannot guarantee you will receive any orders now before Xmas - this is a blanket statement due to the strikes and the unpredictability of how post may be flowing through Royal Mail. You may receive your parcel in a timely manner, or it may be delayed while on its way to you 💕
I am aware that it may seem early to say this, but bear in mind I will not be posting anything from now until 5th Dec 🥰
I do also have gift vouchers available if they would be preferable! 🎄
Let's just all be aware that the posties worldwide are doing their best, and volumes they're dealing with between now and the end of the year are high and therefore your parcel will likely take a bit longer to reach you ❤️
Potential health delays to orders
Please do note that I have chronic neurological and musculoskeletal health issues alongside ADHD (what a killer combo! ), which makes things difficult for me sometimes, so I need flexibility in shipping expectations from time to time ❤️ As I'm only human, I may also catch a bug now and again and need a couple of sick days!
I will regularly communicate my expected order processing times if I'm having difficulties and I'm pushing into what I consider 'overdue' territory (usually 3-4 weeks since you placed the order), but if you're unsure what's happening with your order, please do just email me to ask.
Always remember, I am just the one person working on What Mustard Made, and I do my best at all times to work through what I can every working day (unless I'm taking a sick day), always trying to move forwards.
Please check your junk folder for the shipping confirmation before getting in touch about an overdue order, as some email providers like to put me there.
Customers are responsible for all customs VAT/duties fees on receipt of Goods.
None of my prices include VAT, so you may be charged VAT by your country's customs authorities before the parcel will be released to you, according to the goods value threshold in your country. I am not in control of this, and I do not control the admin fees you may incur on top of the VAT charges. Please take this into account when ordering.
Delivery information by region
All UK parcel postage is £4.00 (I'm reassessing this periodically as there is a price promotion on currently with Royal Mail until 4th Dec and I don't know if they will apply another promotion after it ends, thereafter it could return to my usual £5.00) on orders up to £79.99, free postage applies for UK orders over £80; all are sent tracked with Royal Mail.
Europe - no shipping available
I am currently unable to ship to Europe, please accept my sincere apologies. If I am able to change this in future, I will in a heartbeat.
PDF patterns can still be bought by European customers as shipping is not required.
N.B none of my prices include VAT - you may be charged VAT by your customs agents before it will be released to you, depending on the customs rules in your country.
Please note, orders over 2kg may be split into multiple parcels as 2kg is the maximum I can ship through Royal Mail international. I may investigate other courier options at the time of posting to avoid having to split the orders, but I do prefer to use Royal Mail as their insurance policy is reliable.

If you'd like to set up a payment plan with me for dyed to order yarn, just get in touch using the Contact Form ❤️
You can pay in as many instalments as you like, and over whatever time period is best for you (though not longer than 12 months), via regular standing order or a manual bank transfer initiated by you. The timing of the instalments is up to you too, instalment customers in the past have paid weekly, fortnightly, and monthly. We will agree all of this by email prior to me sending you my bank details.
I will create a draft order in my system with your name, email, address etc, so there's a 'paper trail', and it gets marked as paid once all of the funds are received and then becomes a 'confirmed' order, at which point you will receive an official order confirmation email from me.
The money you send me gets put aside in a pot in my business bank account, and can be refunded in full if you change your mind before it's all paid. Once all of the instalments all paid, I will then dye the yarn and ship it to you once it's dry! 🥳
